Kneeshot's Application

Post  Kneeshot on 19/10/15, 11:16 pm

In-Game Name:
Kneeshot

Your real name or age (Optional):
Sophie, 23. I am Japanese living in the UK.

Total Level and # of rebirths:
Just over 3k at time of writing, with 37 rebirths. Exploration total is just shy of 900.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

My talents:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

How active are you in game?:
I have played pretty heavily on/off since the EU migration back in 2012. I recently came back to play with Snowie and we have been playing daily for a few hours at a time.

Joined any previous guilds? If yes, which one(s) and why are you looking for another guild? (You must list all your previous guild(s) - we will conduct a thorough research. If you're in another guild at the moment. Please state what's your current guild on your application:
My first guild in Mabi NA was Sunrise. A bunch of us from EU migrated to Tarlach and created a small close knit guild. It lasted around a year and a half before people started moving on or quitting.

I then went to Resonanze at the suggestion of a friend who used to be part of it. (This is another mostly EU guild, most of which came from Morrighan EU) They are very friendly people but I am looking to move elsewhere. I have been in this guild around 6 months now.

Why Dreams?:
I find it quite difficult to stick around Mabi during quiet periods of no updates to be completely honest with you. A lot of this is down to who I socialise with; I'm looking for a fun group of people who know each other very well and want to hang out or run some content. I'm not here to ask for people to cater for me or anything, my current guild just doesn't quite feel right.

The main reason I want to join you guys though is really the whole close family thing. The few people I know who are in the guild, and Keo who I have met on occasion in runs are VERY friendly people, and from the few  runs I have joined such as AAHM spam when the celtics were new showed me that you guys are very fun people!

I'd love to be a part of that group. I have been interested in this guild for quite a long time now, only recently have I met the requirements to come along and try and be a part of your wonderful group.

Also it is a little less of a factor, but you guys tend to run higher level stuff and the guild I am in right now doesn't really do any of that. I have joined "public" things such as dragon raids and the occasional peaca abyss / AAHM and such but I'd like some more opportunities to do content.

Who have referred you? The person who referred you must post in your application as recommendation (you need at least 2 referals):
Kostacious is my referral. I was told I have an exception to the rule this time and only need the one.
If it helps though Snowie (XSnowie) was the one who has been helping me join you guys. We are a couple though so I understand that doesn't count as a referral.

How long have you been playing?:
I first started playing Mabi way back in 2009/2010 in EU. I played until its closure and moved to NA at that time (around 2012) and have been here since. I realise I haven't levelled the fastest but I made a human before my main which I levelled quite high before realising I prefer elves.

What kind of skills/accomplishment do you have?:
This is a difficult question, I've achieved quite a lot personally in Mabi but I'm not too sure which things are relevant.
One of my earliest achievements was maxing out all of the archery skills and getting the sniper title (This was the first skillset I enjoyed in NA), however I have done a full skill reset since then.
I have maxed out the music tab (except dischord which is 7) and almost the entire of the magic tab. (Only hail and blaze left I believe)
Also, I obtained grandmaster bard a few months ago which has been a massive help to my runs.

I don't have a lot of life skills yet but I do have Weaving, Tailoring, Refining, Fishing, Herbalism and Potion Making at Rank 1. I'm quite proud I got these done especially tailoring and fishing. I want to continue ranking them all eventually.

Outside of skills I have cleared most dungeons that exist in the game (not all on this character sadly), and I'll never forget my first clears of peaca. That was a nightmare xD
I have cleared most SMs on hard/elite and even tried and completed a few Lord missions.

My most recent combat achievements include clearing Alban Advanced and Peaca Abyss. I also got to kill Black Dragon for the first time a few months ago which was extremely fun.

Any other information you would like for us to know:
Truthfully I have not been too active on Mabi in the last 2-3 months due to FFXIV, and I am only now starting to be active again due to Snowie bringing me back to Mabi. I will be making an effort from now to keep activity to a higher point. My current playing times are afternoon/night in GMT. During weekends I can play quite late so having a different time zone shouldn't be to difficult. I have been running Savage Alexander raids with my FFXIV guild at 2am my time quite often so I can make a commitment to late night runs on weekends.

Confirming my referral for Sophie. <3 She can more than pull her weight, is very knowledgeable, and ive seen her do better than people thrice her level and stats. She is easy going, fun and would be a good fit for the guild in my opinion. I think she can bring a lot to the family, gameplay and personality-wise.

Hi Kneeshot and welcome the application process.

The social aspect seems to be your main reason for joining Dreams so I have to ask you, what would you do when faced with long periods of inactivity from other members? This question is not hypothetical, as a lot of the members like to take long breaks with the game due to content drought or issues that occur in real life, and only recently have a few of them returned after months of inactivity (myself included). How do you feel about this issue?

This is my only question. Good luck on the rest of your application Smile

Heya and thank you for reading!

It's true I'm looking for a new "family" but at the same time I understand people need to take breaks as I actually do the same thing myself. (As mentioned in the application I'm only recently back too just like you!)

I'm fine with quiet periods from time to time. It would be unrealistic to expect the guild to be super active and chatty 24/7. I can busy myself or if worst comes to worst after several months of nothing going on take a short break too.

Of course this doesn't mean I'm just going to slack off and not login for ages, since I really want to get to know you all better and want to be a part of the group.

Hope that answers your question. If you need any more details feel free to ask.

Hi Sophie!

Thank you for taking the time to write your application.

We've met once so far when we ran that Elite Other Alchemist the other day with Snowie. Sorry I was on a rush that time, I had to do a few things at home that were time sensitive haha.

I'm not really good with magic but I was surprised to see how powerful your magic damage was. You did well when we were dungeoning! I liked your character's style too. I wanted to match your clothing for fun but I didn't want to delay our run lol.

Anyway, you said you're from EU so I'm curious. If possible, would you be able to share some of your experiences when you were in EU? Any story you'd like to mention would be interesting. Perhaps tell us any differences between EU and NA you noticed. Or maybe how different you built your character when you came to NA. Also let us know if there was any particular reason you chose Tarlach instead of the other servers. There was a guild called "Dreams" in EU as well but we're totally not related okay? I don't want you to believe we originated from EU haha! =P

I also want to ask a hypothetical question. If you knew that EU was going to close on 2012 back when you were just about to start Mabinogi, would you still have started playing Mabi? Why or why not?

Good luck with your application Sophie!

Hey Cyril! I remember that run, it seemed like someone had attached a rocket to you xD

Thanks for the comments though, I basically focused on maxing out magic after music was done. I'm guessing it shows in the end result along with the amazing buffs magic got a few months back. Magic is extremely fun to me right now so I have no regrets dumping archery for it. (Will rerank eventually)

(Also you should show me your matchy outfit sometime I'd love to see it!)

EU was a pretty amazing time for me, I learnt a lot and met a lot of wonderful people. I started on the Macha server which was the quiet of the 2 but I feel this enhanced my experience at the time due to everyone knowing each other.

Some of my favourite memories in EU are actually near the beginning of me starting. I still remember spending around a week in Tir being scared to leave and doing Alby beginner and PTJs. I met a wonderful person called Bull who showed me Dunbarton and got me started on G1.

I ended up joining a guild called INFERNO shortly after that which was full of super friendly people who just wanted to help and a few of the members showed me the basics of combat and more of the world. This was around the time I started to see how amazing Mabinogi was. I just couldn't believe how much stuff there was!

Eventually the G1 final came up and a couple of them took me through the Albey dungeons and Bull came along again for the final. I still remember being amazed at glas and terrified of the gargoyles in the dungeons. At this point though I knew I was going to stay.

I mained an elf in EU, but I was a little bit of a scatterbrain with the skills. I ranked some archery and alchemy at first, before I went and maxed the entire of alchemy combat. At the time I really felt quite powerful since it had high early damage. Eventually went and ranked archery to completion though.

Some of my fondest memories of EU though come from situations such as meeting new friends on the dragonboat event (I even joined a new guild at this point!), clearing peaca for the first time with my guild (it took HOURS and we had to use barrier spikes and everything), and doing a lot of content together with friends.

The Macha server itself actually felt like an extended family, during quiet times a lot of us would hang around in Dunby and talk about stuff or PvP. Most people knew each other and I loved that atmosphere.

The reason I ended up joining Tarlach though was because most of my friends at the time decided to pick Tarlach and one of them decided to "drag" me to NA (I wasn't sure about moving at first due to the loss of character stats). I really don't regret it as Tarlach is small like Macha was and I have met quite a lot of friendly people here.

On the subject of differences to NA/EU, I'd say the main thing was the game content itself. I stopped playing EU near the closure and at the time G12 was the latest content, so joining NA when it was already past G13 was crazy!

All of these new upgrade methods, TMs, quests and places to explore. It almost felt like a new game again. Was a little overwhelming at first and missed G12 for a while, but I eventually settled in. There is still the issue of EU latency but a good VPN such as WTFast helps a lot with that.

Cyril0321 wrote:I also want to ask a hypothetical question. If you knew that EU was going to close on 2012 back when you were just about to start Mabinogi, would you still have started playing Mabi? Why or why not?

This is a pretty good question. Considering when I started that is still a good 2-3 years of time to play the game. Would I have played it? I actually think I would.

When it first came out in NA the idea was super exciting to me and I really wanted to play it. Sadly as we all know they IP blocked EU pretty fast and by the time I learnt about Mabi it was already blocked. I was playing MapleStory around then so it wasn't until later that I discovered EU.

The moment I learnt an EU version existed I HAD to try it. I wanted to see this "Fantasy Life" for myself and experience the open ended style. I had never seen anything like it and still nothing really compares. It is a unique game and honestly I would have been kicking myself if I missed out on it and knew it was like this. So it is easy for me to say there are no regrets for playing EU even though it has now closed as so many good memories come from there.

Hello and welcome to the Dreams application process:

With Whimsguy gone, I assume all responsibility for one question and one question only:

1). What is your favorite color? Why? How does this color reflect your personality?

Also, how do you feel about college guys wearing pink tutus during Halloween?

Roxxaz wrote:With Whimsguy gone, I assume all responsibility for one question and one question only:

A tough choice between pink/purple. I'm going with pink though since most of my Mabi outfits are that colour! I love using it with pale colours. I have quite a lot of pink clothing at home as well. Purple is a close second because I absolutely adore purple and black combined together.

How it reflects my personality? I find pink to be a bright fun colour, something to make a big statement but can also compliment a wide range of colours. I like to think of myself as a happy, bouncy kind of person but also quite laid back and easy going. People know me to be quite impulsive and silly but when things need to be serious I can sit down and listen.

Roxxaz wrote:Also, how do you feel about college guys wearing pink tutus during Halloween?

I find this quite funny and honestly I know someone who would probably do this in a heartbeat xD

Also a bit relevant but I am actually transgender. I would probably enjoy seeing how well people can pull this off!

Oh trust me, you definitely know at least several people who'd be willing to do this.
*cough cough*

I guess our group is nicknamed "Sinrise" for a reason.

Hello Kneeshot and welcome to the Dreams application. I have met you on several small occasions and in those meetings I saw a player who showed readiness and willingness to not just jump into content but to work with a group. You were pretty polite but a bit shy and that's okay, I look forward to getting to know more about you.
I am aware of your and Snowie's recent return and am glad to see you both back. I know you'd shown some interest in Dreams in the past and you've worked your way to the level and skill requirements and I appreciate that effort from your side. Good luck ^^.

Heya Keo!

Thanks for the kind words, it's true I'm a little shy with new people but I hope it won't make things difficult. After getting to know someone that does fade away though.

As I mentioned before though those runs I came long for were really enjoyable for me and it is definitely the kind of atmosphere I'd love to be around in. You guys really seem to work well together from what I have seen rather than just acting in your own interests in a party. That play style appeals to me a lot!

Also I understand what I said in my previous post about being transgender might cause a little awkwardness. If you guys want to ask anything about that I'm more than willing but I won't get too personal.

Thanks for wishing me luck, I look forward to seeing what other questions you all have.

Heya Medic! Nice to meet you.

Oh no D: You can have my knee instead! Which one do you need? Left or Right?

( For the longest time I thought this meant adventurers were getting shot directly in knees by bandits or something and ended up quitting to be guards. I didn't learn until earlier this year it actually meant getting married so I named my character that due to being an archer. I'm so dense xD )

Heya Cyborg!

Gonna have to say banana! I absolutely love them they are the first thing to run out from the fruit bowl :3
Great taste and one of my favourite things to eat in the morning.

In second place I will say kiwi. I tried these in school and they are really good. (I also ate the skin but I'm weird like that)

What is yours? o:

Heya Ghostlybard, nice to meet you!

I'd have to say my favourite Halloween thing would be the Spoopy meme. I can't get enough of it when it starts showing up around this time of year. xD

GHOSTLYBARD wrote:Favorite Halloween Cereal?
Sadly I haven't actually seen any :C Don't know if it exists in the UK.

GHOSTLYBARD wrote:Favorite Halloween Costume?
I love witches, but I love Harry Potter even more. I'd probably go as a witch from Hogwarts, or one of the professors. (Probably Tonks)

GHOSTLYBARD wrote:Favorite Halloween Candy?
Toffee apples are the best!

GHOSTLYBARD wrote:Favorite Halloween Activity?
Trick or Treat! I haven't had the chance to do this properly since I was small due to family not liking it but I love being able to dress up and go out.

GHOSTLYBARD wrote:Favorite Halloween Memory?
This is probably not so related but it happened on Halloween. My brother got these edible candy laces and decided to cover a WHOLE ROOM in them. Linking them together, draping them off things. It was like a massive spider web and it was hilarious xD

GHOSTLYBARD wrote:Favorite Ghost?
Carrie from the Amazing World of Gumball. I love the stuff she gets up to, one of my favourites being the episode where she tries to excorcise Gumball's jealousy. xD

Kneeshot- if you were to be accepted into the guild but something happens between you and Snowies relationship- how would this affect your stay in the guild?

While we do enjoy the company of loved ones/friends of our members and like to get to know them better personally we also like to hope that the individual creates their own bonds and comforts and becomes apart of the family that is our guild as well.

What is the likelihood that you'd leave Dreams if something happened in the relationship? Are you looking for a guild to be apart of or is it mostly to be in the company of a loved one preferably?
